IEEE Digital Reality serves as IEEE’s go-to platform at the forefront blend of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), 360-degree media, immersive, and other future potential reality technology spaces.
The IEEE Entrepreneurship community is at the forefront of turning ideas into successful businesses. We make it priority to help our members not just launch, but grow their ventures and facilitate the networking and mentoring of those who have the passion to translate their vision into reality.
The IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems (A/IS) was launched in April of 2016 to move beyond the paranoia and the uncritical admiration regarding autonomous and intelligent technologies and to illustrate that aligning technology development and use with ethical values will help advance innovation while diminishing fear in the process.
The goal of The IEEE Global Initiative is to incorporate ethical aspects of human well-being that may not automatically be considered in the current design and manufacture of A/IS technologies and to reframe the notion of success so human progress can include the intentional prioritization of individual, community, and societal ethical values.
The IEEE Standards Association, a globally recognized standards-setting body within IEEE, develops consensus standards through an open process that engages industry and brings together a broad stakeholder community. IEEE standards set specifications and best practices based on current scientific and technological knowledge. The IEEE-SA has a portfolio of over 1,200 active standards and more than 650 standards under development.
The IEEE TechEthics™ program seeks to ensure that ethical and societal implications of technology become an integral part of the development process by driving conversation and debate on these issues. Since IEEE does not directly fund research, we instead seek to accelerate the generation of ideas, facilitate the vetting of those ideas, and, where applicable, drive consensus around those ideas. The IEEE TechEthics™ program achieves this through event production, content development, audience engagement and other activities.
